ABOUT ANSUZ

Ansuz symbolizes communication and wisdom, reflecting the magic of language. It signifies the transmission of knowledge through speech, particularly in the discovery and dissemination of the runic alphabet by Odin. Advice seekers who draw Ansuz should heed potential important messages. Ansuz embodies truth, spiritual power, and the exchange of ideas through language.

In Norse mythology, the seeress is comparable to a practitioner of shamanism or witchcraft. She is a wand carrier and holds the wisdom of the wood that once pulled its nutrients and knowledge from the earth. She communicates with the ancient world, gathering and sharing its secrets through prophetic divination. Even Odin turns to the seeress when in need of wisdom.

Odin also relies on two raven companions, Hugin (thought) and Munin (memory) to collect knowledge on his behalf. Hugin flies across the Nine Realms, gathering information and sharing it with Odin, while Munin stores knowledge and experiences for the long term. Together, they enable Odin to make wise decisions and foresee future events, maintaining his supremacy among the gods.

Similarly, Yggdrasil, the colossal ash tree, stores within it much knowledge through the runes which Odin eventually acquires. Yggdrasil, the ravens, and the Volva have all provided wisdom for Odin, and eventually all humanity through ancient knowledge and lore shared over generations.
