About Ingwaz

Ingwaz is deeply connected with the concept of fertility, especially in the feral form. It is the inner fire that lies dormant, and then ignites and grows out of control. The strong energy of Ingwaz may take time to awaken but burns strongly once ignited. Ingwaz signifies potency and and built-up tension.

Idunn, goddess of youth, symbolizes rejuvenation and fertility in Norse mythology. She manifests eternal youth and uses her sacred symbol of a golden apple to offer everlasting beauty and immortality to the gods. As the giver of perpetual vitality, she is desired by the gods like no other. Her story signifies a cycle of renewal and the triumph of life over adversity.

Boars play a significant role in Norse mythology as symbols of potency and vitality. For instance, Freyr, the god of fertility, owned Gullinbursti, a radiant boar whose luminous mane illuminated his path. Similarly, Freyja, Freyr's sister, rode a boar named Hildisvini, further emphasizing the boar's representation of potency and power in Norse mythology. The boar is the animal most closely connected with Igwaz due to its primal power and potency.

In addition, Idunn’s apples appear to represent important theme. Idunn, a fertility goddess, possesses the apples of eternal youth, which sustain the gods' vitality and longevity. These apples symbolize new beginnings as they enable the gods to renew their vitality, much like the potency of the boars and the goddess of youth herself.
