ABOUT WUNJO
ABOUT WUNJO
Wunjo represents happiness and peace, and holds within it the promise of delightful transformations. With its arrival, clarity emerges from the fog of uncertainty, illuminating once obscured paths. This symbol of harmony speaks volumes about the beauty of unity and collaboration.
Sif, the Norse goddess of grain, embodies joy, peace, and harmony. As the wife of Thor, she personifies these qualities within the divine realm. Her presence signifies a state of happiness and tranquility, fostering harmony among the gods and the world. Sif is famous for her gold hair, which symbolizes the fertile harvest of grain.
The animal connected most to Wunjo is the sheep, whose wool was also harvested by the Norse folk and used heavily in their daily lives. In mythology, sheep symbolizes joy, particularly in connection with Frigg, Odin's wife, due to their association with wool used in spinning and weaving.
In the Viking Age, barley was essential to providing bread, porridge, and malt for brewing beer. Byggvir, a minor Norse deity, was revered as the god of barley and a servant of Freyr. Associated with beer, he was worshiped alongside Freyr and Freyja in fertility rites, reflecting the joy and celebration linked to barley-based beverages. Like the sheep of the Norse, the barley of Byggvir, and the golden hair of Sif, Wunjo stands for the celebration of a good harvest and the harmony felt in a community of collaboration.
